The final product of DIY Scrunchies

Looking for a healthier, trendy, way to keep your hair up? Here are some DIY scrunchies in 10 minutes.

To start these adorable scrunchies, here's what you'll need...

- Fabric

- Scissors

- Measuring Tape

- Elastic

- Sewing Machine (or: hand sewing supplies, I just prefer the quicker route)

Step 1:

To start this project, grab your fabric scissors and material of choice. You'll want to cut 14 inches (35 ct) by 3-4 inches (8 ct), depending on how close you can get the hem to the fabric.

Tip: The longer you make your fabric, the more scrunch you get!

Step 2:

After cutting, pin your fabric in half inside out. Sew along the edge until you have a nice tube.

Step 3:

Now, for the hardest part: turning your tube inside out. To do this, slowly work by pushing the fabric through with a pencil. Though it's less risky to do this with your fingers, it does take some tinkering.

Step 4:

For the elastics, I cut up a larger piece into 6 inch strips, but I'd recommend simply measuring your own wrist.

Step 5:

For an easier process, put a safety pin on the end of the elastic. Hold it up against your thumb, and scrunch it down.

A smaller piece of elastic cut up from an old elastic band.

Step 6:

Carefully hold the elastic in place, and sew the two ends together. This is hard to accomplish, so it may be easier to hand sew.

Step 7:

You are almost done with your very own DIY scrunchies! Now we have to sew the two ends together. This would look a lot better if hand sewed, because you can get the edges wrapped under better.

BUT...

If you're lazy like me, you can put one flap under the other and sew it with the machine. It may look a little messier, but you can probably cover it up with some of da' scrunch.

Step 8:

Wear your beautiful new scrunchies! Velvet ones are especially cute.
